Touching or carrying a copy of the Qur’an:
Prohibited – majority
Not prohibited – Dhaahiri (Dawood and ibn Hazm), al-Albaani
Recitation of the Qur’an, even if it is just part of a verse:
Prohibited – Hanafi, Shafa’i, Sufyan ath-Thawri, Ishaaq, ibn Mubarak
Disliked – al-Albaani, Umar, Ali, al-Hasan, Qataadah
Not prohibited – Maliki, Hanbali, ibn Abbas, Sa’eed ibn al-Musayyeb, Sa’eed ibn Jubair, Akrimah, Ibraheem an-Nakh’i, at-Tabari, al-Bukhari, Dhaahiri, ash-Showkaani
Staying in the masjid:
Prohibited – majority
Not prohibited – Dhaahiri, al-Muzny, al-Albaani, ibn Abbas
Conditionally not prohibited – Ahmed and Ishaaq:
Condition – performing ablution following the occurrence
However, they did not prohibit staying in the masjid if the major impurity resulted from menstruation.
Passing through the masjid:
Prohibited – Hanafi and Maliki
Not prohibited – Shafa’i, Hanbali, ibn Abbas, ibn Mas’ud
