Entering the state of Ihram does not require a special two-Rak’at prayer. The two Rak’at of Ihram are an act of Sunnah according to the majority of scholars. On the other hand, some of the people of knowledge do not prefer the two-Rak’at prayer to avoid associating a specific act of worship with Ihram. However, the majority of the scholars prefer to have a prayer preceding Ihram whether obligatory or voluntary (Nafil) prayer.
A menstruating woman should not pray the two Rak’at of Ihram due to her menstruation but should do all other rituals of Hajj or Umrah except praying and Tawaf around the House until she has been purified.
