Connecting Generations to Build a Better Future

Older Adult Committee

Our Mission

Our mission is to encourage older adults to share their knowledge, skills, and talents with youth and adults, helping to build a more resilient and spiritually connected ummah. We promote intergenerational collaboration inspired by the Islamic value of mutual cooperation in goodness.

By creating opportunities to learn, serve, worship, and grow together, we seek to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood across ages.

Need Support? We Are Here to Help

The Older Adult Committee extends to seniors who may need assistance in any aspect of life—emotionally, spiritually, socially, or physically. If you or someone you know is facing challenges, please know that seeking help is both welcomed and dignified in Islam. Our goal is to support you with warmth, mercy, and confidentiality.

If you need assistance, please click the “contact us” button below to fill out the Older Adult Support Form. This form allows us to understand your needs and match you with appropriate resources, volunteers, or community services. Assistance may include companionship, guidance, transport support for certain programs, technology help, resource referrals, or hospital/home visitation.

All inquiries are handled with amanah (trust and confidentiality) and compassion.

Why Our Work Matters

Our monthly resource meetings serve as a gathering space for seniors to gain beneficial knowledge (‘ilm nāfi‘), discuss topics relevant to their lives, and connect with others in a warm, supportive environment. These sessions often include reminders about Islamic concepts of wellbeing, gratitude (shukr), and patience (ṣabr), alongside practical resources.

Throughout the year, we offer seminars and workshops addressing a wide range of topics—healthy aging, mental and emotional wellbeing, Islamic guidance on life transitions, preparing for the Hereafter (al-Ākhirah), and navigating community resources. We aim to approach all topics through an Islamic lens, reminding seniors of the dignity and honor Allah grants them.

During Ramadan, we host special iftar gatherings devoted to older adults, allowing them to experience the blessings of barakah-filled meals and spiritual companionship. These events embody the spirit of rahmah (mercy) and community solidarity.

Coffee Chat

Our Coffee Chats provide a relaxed environment for conversation, storytelling, and fellowship. Many seniors find comfort in sharing their unique journeys of faith (dīn) and life lessons, which strengthen bonds across the community. For more information on the dates and times, please check out our Calendar of Events below.
