The majority (except for Maaliki) state that the intention should be made for each day; fasting each day is an independent act of worship and the validity of a day’s fast is not dependent or associated with the validity of another day’s fast.
According to Maaliki, one intention at the beginning of Ramadan is sufficient; it is permissible to fast the entire month with one intention.
