The scholars differed regarding the ruling on eating squirrels. Some of them permitted it, and some of them forbade it.
The standard principle rule is that animals are permissible to eat except only what is forbidden by Sharia.
Since squirrels do not have predatory fangs, it is permissible to eat squirrel meat, especially if it is for a need, such as treatment and the like.
