Some scholars hold an opinion of allowing women to visit the graves, whether it is the grave of her husband or others, even if they do it during their ‘iddah period. This ruling is based on the analogy with the permissibility of women going out in general during the day during their ‘iddah period after the death of their husbands.
This opinion was held by the followers of the Shafi’i school of thought, and the Shafi’is, unlike the majority of scholars, see that visiting graves for women is disliked and not forbidden.
