Imams Hanifa, Maalik, and Shafa’i all stated that cupping does not invalidate one’s fast. They cite Bukhari’s narration on the authority of ibn ‘Abbas (ra) that the Prophet (pbuh) had cupping done when he was in a state of ihram and when he was fasting.
Imam Ahmad, on the other hand, stated that cupping invalidates one’s fast due to the saying of the Prophet (pbuh): “The one who has cupping done and the one who does it to another have both broken their fast.” It is more cautious to refrain from cupping whilst fasting.
