This Monday, April 8, North Carolina will be able to partially witness an eclipse of the sun.
IAR will be hosting a Salat ul-Kusoof prayer, which is the solar eclipse prayer from the sunnah, on Monday, April 8, after Dhuhr (1:35 PM). We encourage our community to attend with their families and partake in this sunnah. This is an opportunity for the community to come together and make dua for the Ummah.
It is reported in Sahih Bukhari, “An eclipse of the sun occurred during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he led the people in Salat (called Salat ul-Kusoof).”
Special viewing glasses will be provided on a first-come, first serve basis.
Please keep in mind that it is never safe to stare directly at the sun without specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing.
