Islamic Will Workshops

The Friday Night Program for August 3 will be a presentation about Inheritance Laws and the Islamic Will by Dr Abdul Majid Khan. There will also be an in depth Workshop on Saturday August 4 from 11 am to 1 pm.

Dr Khan is the author of the book “Inheritance Laws and the Islamic Will” along with Sr Nadia S Khan.

The Friday Night Program will be an introduction to wills and differences between Islamic Wills and Secular Wills. The Probate court and how it functions with respect to inheritance laws? What are the US state specific will requirements?

A description of the important sections of an Islamic Will. The three categories of heirs in the Islamic law of inheritance, the three verses in the Qur’an that specify the distribution of your estate, what are your religious obligations with respect to inheritance, the rules of 1/3 optional bequest.

Dr Khan will also share calculation using the table or computer program, which can be downloaded from the Internet.

The Saturday Workshop will focus on the details of writing your WILL that complies with local estate laws.

11 am to 11:30 am will be a presentation on how to fill up your Will papers.

An onsite notary will be available to attest signatures.

Documents need to be signed in the presence of Notary. The cost for notary services will be $5 per page notary.

Witnesses need to be present in person with valid proofs of identity which includes Passport, Drivers license.

Dr Majid will also be available to help with those who want to use his Will document.
His charges are as follows $149 for an Individual Will and $199 for married couples. The fee includes a copy of his book “Inheritance Laws and the Islamic Will”.

Dr Majid will provide his printed documents for those interested.
