IAR School Board

Chairperson of the IAR school Board (IARSB) (Volunteer position)

The IAR is delighted to announce the formation of the IAR School Board. The school board will develop both short- and long-term strategies for future growth, competitive educational performance, fiscal independence and financial efficiency of the IAR schools.

The purpose of this IARSB is to:

  • The IARSB will develop 1 year, 5 year and 10 year plus goals and objectives for the three schools (Al-Iman, An-Noor and AlFurqan).
  • IARSB will approve the schools’ bylaws, policies, and the amendments to their bylaws.
  • IARSB will approve the annual budgets, submitted to the IAR CEO/Treasurer and will seek input from the IAR administration team in fiscal matters, as needed.
  • IARSB will formally nominate qualified candidates from full time Schools or weekend school based on recommendations from respective schools’ committee members and schools’ staff, to serve on the schools’ committees and as chairpersons. All nominations are subject to approval by the IAR Shura.
  • IARSB will be responsible for hiring and dismissing the school principals/directors based on established policy.

Qualifications of the Chair of IARSB:

  1. Must be resident (US Citizens or permanent residents) of the greater Triangle community.
  2. Minimum BS degree. Preference should be given to individuals with formal training or experience in education, management, or strategic planning.
  3. Individuals should be at least 30 years of age.

Duties of the Chair of IARSB

  1. Directing and coordinating activities in order to achieve the aims and purposes of the IARSB
  2. Calling, presiding over, and setting agenda for meetings of the IARSB
  3. Reporting to the Shura on the status of the IARSB at least biannually
  4. Being the main spokesperson, representative, and correspondent for the IARSB

The term is 4 years. Time Commitment: about4 – 8 hours per quarter. This is a volunteer position.
