Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet said to his Companions,

There has come to you the month of Ramadan, which Allaah has enjoined you to fast. In this month, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hellfire are closed. The devils are chained in this month, and there is a night in it which is better than a thousand months of worship: whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.”

Your questions answered

Ramadan Logistics

The Islamic Association of Raleigh strives to provide an inclusive environment for our community members with special needs and disabilities.

The main building has a wheelchair-accessible prayer hall and bathrooms, as well as elevator access to the upper floors. IAR has a few wheelchairs available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Many Friday Khutbahs  are streamed with ASL interpretation as well.

Please contact our Special Needs Facilitator, Sr. Arshiya Siddiqui, at [email protected] with any questions or requests.

IAR will offer an on-site babysitting service for Taraweeh worshipers. To register, please use this link.

Please note the following:

  • Babysitting is provided for children ages 3-7 (Unfortunately, we can not accommodate exceptions)
  • All registration fees must be paid up front, There will be no refunds.
  • Babysitting starts 10 minutes before Isha starts to 10 minutes after the first dua after the first 8 rakats.  Continued tardiness in picking up a child, letting sick children attend, disruptive behavior of the child will result in the child not being able to continue with babysitting, no refunds of registration fees will be given.
  • All children must be potty/toilet trained.
  • Sick children are not allowed, please keep them home so they can get the rest they need and not infect the other children.

InshaAllah, IAR will offer drive-through Iftar (evening) meals during the month of Ramadan, Monday through Thursday.

Needy, refugees, travelers, and those alone during Ramadan can pick up their Iftar meal to go between 6:00 and 7:00 PM.

Iftars will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Through the entire month we look forward to serving over 5,000 indiviudals including those who join us for suhoor during the last ten nights.
If you would like to sponsor an Iftar, please use this link. Your generous donations are use by IAR’s very own Al-Ma’idah Kitchen & Café to cook delicious and nutritious meals for the community.

After considering the rate of inflation, Zakat ul Fitr for this year is determined to be $15 per person, and Fiddyah $8 per day (of missed fasting).

You can fulfill these obligations online, using our lobby kiosks, or with cash/check using the appropriate envelope.

Your masjid will livestream select Friday Reminders, Tarweeh Prayers, Qiyam, and more. You can tune in on our YouTube channel
