Director of Operations (Volunteer Role)

  • Overseeing Operations Committees:
    • Work with chairs to determine the mission, purpose, and priorities of these committees.
    • Recruit, train, and develop the Vice Director of Operations and committee chairs
    • Help set annual monetary goals and budgets according to short and long-term goals for the committees
    • Supervise the planning of the different events of the committees
    • Work as a liaison to bring the committees together and help them to work together to realize the vision of IAR
    • Lead coordination and integration of efforts among operations committees and other IAR committees.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives
  • Draw on relationships with committee chairs, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals
  • Adhere to the IAR’s policies and standards, and ensure that laws and regulations are being followed
  • Implement policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets to achieve financial objectives.
  • Communicate and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to committee chairs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for program success.
  • Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and improvements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, partners, attendees, and community members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields
  • Proven experience in developing budgets and business plans
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Budgeting and financial management expertise
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions
  • Knowledge of relevant industry trends and best practices
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, government, or corporate setting
