Do I need to start praying all 5 daily prayers right away?
Yes. The five daily prayers are obligatory from the moment you accept Islam. They are:
-
Fajr (dawn)
-
Dhuhr (midday)
-
Asr (afternoon)
-
Maghrib (sunset)
-
Isha (night)
If you struggle, begin with what you can and increase gradually. Never give up completely. Even if you fall short, keep trying until you establish all five consistently.
Reference: Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is bad, then the rest of his deeds will be bad.” (al-Tabarani, graded sahih by al-Albani)
