To further enhance their impact, the Imams' Office has set ambitious goals:
Our overarching objective is to provide an abundance of programs and information to our community members, fostering an environment where they can cultivate and embrace strong Islamic principles in their lives. Recognizing the crucial role of Imams, we acknowledge that the success and survival of the IAR community hinge on having steadfast spiritual leaders. Emphasizing accessibility, we strive to ensure that our Imams are readily available to community members, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood. Looking towards the future, our long-term vision underscores the necessity of achieving these goals, not only for our current community but as a commitment to passing on the rich Islamic legacy to the generations that will shape the future in the unique context of Western society.
The Da’wah & Outreach Team at IAR is a dynamic force actively engaged in educating diverse groups about Islam through various initiatives. These include tours, presentations, and appointments for those seeking to learn or embrace the faith. The committee provides valuable support to multiple MSA's by offering Dawah materials, conducting training sessions, and providing weekly visits to educate prisoners. Additionally, they assist chaplaincy groups in local hospitals. Virtual Islam 101 classes, annual open house events, quarterly sessions with the Imam for new reverts, and various social gatherings are also part of their comprehensive outreach efforts.
Key highlights include:
A chief goal is to develop and implement a robust convert care program, providing comprehensive educational, emotional, and social support to individuals who have recently embraced Islam.
The committee, consisting of dedicated individuals committing 30-40 hours per week, takes great pride in promptly addressing every visit, tour, presentation, and literature request within 24 hours. Testimonials, such as the one from a chaplaincy group, express gratitude for the warm welcome, thorough educational sessions, and generous hospitality during their visit to IAR.
Dawah is integral to IAR, serving as a bridge that connects the community with diverse groups, fostering understanding, and promoting mutual respect. It plays a pivotal role in building positive relationships, dispelling misconceptions, and creating an inclusive environment for all. The committee looks forward to collaborating with the resident scholar and the soon-to-be-hired outreach director in planning and developing impactful programs for reverts and non-Muslims, Insha'Allah.
