Seeking Community Nomination For Board of Directors

Since Imam Baianonie has vacated the seat in the IAR Board of Directors, we are seeking nomination from the community to fill the vacant position. Please submit your nomination before midnight Jan. 15, 2016. Qualified candidates will be invited to a Shura meeting. After the interview process, Shura will elect one of the candidates for this volunteer position. Please see the following reference from the IAR Constitution & Bylaws for detailed information including candidates qualification and the Board function.

Forms are placed in the IAR main lobby. You may want to consider motivating suitable candidates to submit their nomination.

ARTICLE X: BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SECTION 1. COMPOSITION

The Board of Directors (B.O.D.) shall consist of 5 members elected by the Shura. The members shall continue to serve until they are no longer able to perform the duties of the Board as determined unanimously by the rest of the Board or by at least 75% of the eligible voters of the General Body, or a formal resignation is submitted.

SECTION 2. QUALIFICATIONS

Any Muslim aged 35 years or more, who has been a member of IAR for at least three consecutive years, a resident of the Triangle area for at least 5 years and has a Permanent Resident Status is eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

SECTION 3. FUNCTIONS

The Board of Directors shall: a. Assure appropriate functioning of the IAR in general compliance with the Constitution.
b. Interpret the Constitution in case of ambiguity or conflict pertaining to the Constitution.
c. Resolve conflict(s) in the functioning of the Shura.
d. Choose any course of action it deems necessary to perform its functions, however it shall not be involved in day-to-day affairs of the IAR and the functioning of the Executive
Committee or any other committee. The decision(s) of the Board can be appealed to the Board for reconsideration.
