Meet the IAR's new Imam this Friday

Please welcome our new Imam on Friday September 4th - Imam Mohamed AbuTaleb.

Imam AbuTaleb was born and raised in the Washington, DC area and​ i​s a lifelong student of the Quran and Islamic studies, where he has studied with a number of credentialed scholars and teachers, most recently at the Cambridge Islamic College in the UK, and been blessed to memorize the Holy Quran. He also shares a love of science and reason and completed his PhD in electrical engineering from MIT along with degrees in physics and mathematics.​ ​He has traveled to deliver classes, workshops, and lectures on Islam at American institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Columbia, Georgia Tech, and a number of other universities, community centers, and religious institutions. He serves as an instructor for the OakTree Institute, working with youth and organizations to develop citizen leaders driven by faith and trust in God. His style focuses on enabling others to engage the Quran and Prophetic example and apply their findings towards their own spiritual and organizational successes. He is married and blessed with one child.

Program for Friday September 4th:

Imam AbuTaleb will deliver the Second Shift (1:35-2:10pm) Jummah Khutba immediately followed by a meet & greet (2:10-2:40pm) for brothers in the main musallah.

The evening program will begin with refreshments in the Gym at 7:30pm with a short program between Maghrib & Isha (8:00-9:00pm) where the community will get to know Imam AbuTaleb & engage with him on community plan & vision.

Following Isha prayer (9:30pm) there will be a meet & greet for sisters in the main musallah & sweets in the Gym.
