The Social & Welfare Committee has selected Chad for Udhiyah/Qurbani this year to be done through Islamic Relief. The cost is $80 per goat.
Chad has been selected based upon the information provided by Islamic Relief. Chad is considered one of the world's poorest countries with a history of instability. According to the U.S. government, Chad relies heavily on foreign assistance and eighty percent of Chad's population lives below the poverty line. As many as 20 million people are facing chronic food shortages across the Sahel region of West Africa, some of whom are on the brink of starvation. Eight million people are already in need of emergency assistance in Niger, Mali and Chad.
The money collection will begin on Sunday, September 29 and the deadline to pay for Udhiyah/Qurbani through IAR is October 11, 2013. If you would like to get Udhiyah done through IAR you can pay the required amount to either Imam Baianonie, Br. Ameenullah (Management), Br. Fiaz (Daawa) or Br. Munir Abdullah (Social & Welfare Committee).
