Details about the situation in Mali and Burma
MALI: It is considered among the poorest countries in the world. In January 2013, violence erupted as international and government forces clashed with armed rebels in northern and western Mali. Many civilians, scrambling to protect themselves and their families, fled to neighboring countries and are struggling to maintain daily living.
BURMA: There is continuous and ongoing violence in Myanmar (also known as Burma). More than 140,000 people have been displaced that began in June 2012. The United Nations reported that some 800,000 Muslims live in Burma and are regarded as some of the most persecuted people in the world and face regular food shortages.
