We have two special guests visiting us on Friday July 8. Dr Yassine Daoud will lead the 1:30 PM Friday prayers and his khutbah will be on how to live in this world for the hereafter.
Sr Laila El-Haddad author of Gaza Mom: Palestine, Politics, Parenting and Everything in Between will present the Friday Night Program between Maghrib and Isha prayers.
Laila El-Haddad is a freelance journalist, political analyst, and parent-of-two from Gaza. She received her B.A. from Duke University and her MPP from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
From 2003 - 2006, El-Haddad was Gaza correspondent for the Al-Jazeera English website and a regular contributor to the BBC World Service and the Guardian. She has been published in in The Washington Post, the International Herald Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, The New Statesman, and Le monde diplomatique, among others, and has been a guest on WUNC, WBUR and CNN.
Gaza Mom: Palestine, Politics, Parenting, and Everything in Between, named for the award-winning blog she has authored since 2004, is her first book. She is also a contributor to the recently released book "The Goldstone Report: The Legacy of the Landmark Investigation of the Gaza Conflict (Nation Books January 2011)". She is currently based in Maryland.
